Mochasoft Configuration FAQ

How to configure Mocha TN5250  terminal emulation.

(1) If you don't already have an emulation product, click on the link above and download it. The download is an executable zip file.  Once it is downloaded, find the file on your pc in the folder that you saved it to, and click on it to install.

As it installs, it will begin configuration and prompt you for the AS/400 host name.  This should be v400y.virtual400.net or the host name provided to you in your welcome email.

(2) You will need to change the device name of the display device (workstation id) within TN5250.  To do this, click on the settings tab on the tool bar, then click on termtype.  You should see the termtype window.  Click on IBM 3179-2 for the term type.  In the device name field enter the device id of one of the devices assigned to you.  (If you don't know your assigned devices click here to enter account maintenance.)  Click on ok.

Your emulation is now correctly configured for your account.  You should be able to click on the open button to start the emulation session and connect to the Virtual400 host you were assigned to.

How to configure Mocha TN3812 printer emulation.

(1) Download the .exe format of TN3812.

(2) Double click on mtn3812.exe. When the window opens click on the settings tab then click on PRINTER CONFIGURATION. This window allows you to select which printer the output will be sent to. If you are attached to a network you can select one of the printers on the network otherwise just select the default printer. You can change the font and print size to your favorites, print a test page, change the page length…etc. Click OK when you have completed this step.

The ‘connect’ and ‘disconnect’ buttons are the two left buttons on the task bar. The leftmost is the CONNECT button. When you want to connect your printer session to the AS/400 use this button. Another window will appear; this is the Connect Window. In this window you will enter the host name (v400y.virtual400.net) and the session ID.  The session id is the printer device assigned to you in the welcome email. (XXXPRT1). Leave all the other defaults as is. If you have the demo version just click the ACCEPT button on the ‘Unlicensed Evaluation Copy’ window.

How to print.

From the display session, use WRKOUTQ to list your output.   Enter 2 next to the output you wish to print and press enter. Change the OUTQ parameter to your printer session ID. You will see the print information appear in the printer session window, then it will print out on the assigned printer.
