FAQ - Connectivity - Updated 12/17/02
What to do when you can't connect.

Verify access to the Virtual400 host system from the web.

Use the TCPIP program "PING" to verify that your pc can talk to the host you are configured on.  The host name will look something like this v400y.virtual400.net.  (If you don't know your host name click on the maintain account link on the nav bar to get it.)

EX: Ping v400y.virtual400.net - This will cause your pc to send a message to virtual400 to verify that the computers are talking.  You should get a message that says something like:

 "reply from  12.12.12.12      bytes=32     time=53ms     TTL=49"

If the message you get is an error message try "pinging" another known host.  EX: ping www.yahoo.com

If you receive a valid reply then there is some network issue between your pc and Virtual400 so open a help desk ticket by clicking on the help desk link from the menu bar.

If you get an error when pinging www.yahoo.com try pinging a known IP address such as 4.2.2.1.

If you get a valid reply using an IP address you are having a DNS problem which is most likely a problem with your PC configuration or the DNS server that is responding to your local requests.  You can gain access to Virtual400 by using the IP address of your assigned host. Open a help desk ticket and request the IP address for your assigned Virtual400 host.
