Client Access Configuration FAQ

How to configure Client Access terminal emulation.

You must have client access for V5R4 or newer to connect to our systems reliably.  Yes you can use older versions but you will experience problems with it.

Before you begin, you must have the host name and device id's assigned to your account.    (If you don't know your assigned devices click on account maintenance from the menu bar to get them.)

Start Client Access Emulation by clicking on Start or Configure Session from within the Client Access folder.  If you are prompted to configure click on the configure button.  This will depend on the version of software you are using.  If you are not prompted, click on the communication tab on the open window and click on configure.

When the configure PC5250 window opens, enter your Virtual400 assigned host name in the System Name box.  In the Workstation area of the window click on Specify workstation ID, and enter one of the assigned display(workstation) id's in the field.  Then click on ok.

You will be automatically connected to the host and a pop-up window prompting you to sign-on will appear.  Enter your userid and password and click ok.

You should then see the "green screen" signon display.  Verify that the Display name field in the top right corner of the screen is showing one of your assigned display devices.  If it does your configuration should be right.

Your emulation is now correctly configured for your account.  You should be able to sign-on and use the system.

If you didn't get a sign on screen or didn't get the initial pop-up window prior to the signon screen you might want to verify your connection to us.  For instructions for connectivity troubleshooting click here.
